Custom CRM or an existing platform: which fits your business?

CodeBlue Technologies ·

An existing CRM may suit a standard sales process with limited configuration. Custom development is worth assessing when important approvals, integrations or reporting cannot be supported economically by available tools. Compare the total operating responsibility, not just the initial build or licence price.

Map the process before the feature list

Follow one enquiry through qualification, quotation, approval, follow-up and closure. Record where information is re-entered or work waits for a decision. Select a few measurable acceptance scenarios, such as a salesperson finding the next overdue action or a manager reviewing open quotations. A long feature list can hide the actual requirement.

Include the full lifecycle

Compare configuration, data cleaning, imports, staff training, hosting, security, upgrades and support. Verify integration permissions and API limits before promising automation. For a custom system, agree source ownership, export formats, backup responsibility and maintenance terms. A demonstration should be labelled as a sample, not proof that your required integration is already delivered.
